State Violence in the Windy City
The Gestapo is boots on the ground in the Windy City, y’all. Don’t let anyone tell you this is normal or that this is “law enforcement.” This is a fucking military occupation happening in broad daylight in the middle of downtown Chicago. We’re seeing images of armed federal agents, faces covered like cowards, marching in formation down Michigan Avenue. They’ve got boats on the damn river. This isn’t a targeted action; it’s a terror parade, a deliberate “show of force” designed to scare the shit out of every person of color and make it clear who the state sees as the enemy.

They are snatching people up in front of Millennium Park, in front of the Tribune Tower, places where people live and work and play. They’re banking on the shock and the fear to paralyze us. But we have to see this for what it is: state-sponsored terrorism. This is what it looks like when the federal government declares war on its own communities. This isn’t about laws; it’s about control and intimidation. These are stormtroopers, not officers, and their presence is an act of aggression against the entire city.

Let’s be crystal clear: being anti-ICE is being antifascist. There is no daylight between the two. What is fascism? It’s the use of a paramilitary secret police force, unaccountable to the public, to terrorize and disappear a designated “other”—an underclass created by the state. That is the exact function of ICE. These masked thugs, operating with impunity, are the modern-day Brownshirts. When you stand against ICE, you are not just standing up for immigrants; you are standing against the core mechanics of a fascist state. The real heroes are the antifascists, the activists, and lawyers like Berto Aguayo, who are putting their bodies on the line to document this fuckery while the so-called leaders do nothing.
And make no mistake, ICE is an existential threat to all of our bodily autonomy. The fundamental right to control your own body—where it goes, what happens to it, and who is allowed to touch it—is the bedrock of freedom. When you allow the state to claim ownership over a person’s body, to seize it, cage it, and forcibly move it across a border because of a civil infraction or their country of origin, you have surrendered that principle for everyone. The same twisted logic that says the state can declare a person’s physical presence “illegal” is the same logic that leads to forced medical procedures and the denial of reproductive rights. It’s the state saying, “Your body is our property.” This isn’t just an immigration issue; it’s a fight for the right to exist in your own skin without government permission.

Governor Pritzker’s silence is deafening, and it is complicity. Where the hell is he? He should be deploying every resource at his disposal to arrest these federal thugs for terrorism, not letting them run wild and kidnap people in his state. And don’t even start with that 100-mile border zone bullshit. Chicago is not within the range of an international border. It’s a legal fiction they’re stretching to justify a police state. If some masked goon with no badge, no name, and no warrant walks up to me and tries to lay a hand on me, they are not acting with legal authority; they are a kidnapper. Self-defense is a human right.

They’re disappearing people—I hear the number is already massive—all for a minor civil infraction, and sending them off to a camp. This is state violence, plain and simple, and it is illegal as fuck.
